LETTERS OF SUPPORT NEEDED
To fund the project and keep rent levels reasonable, Sawbill Village needs grand funding to decrease the cost of the project and allow for reasonable rents on the housing.
Otherwise, the housing will need to be used as higher-priced short-term rentals, until finances support charging lower-priced long-term rent. In short, without grant funding, affordable housing can not happen.
We need support from local businesses to validate the need for affordable housing.

SUPPORT SAWBILL VILLAGE
Sawbill Village will be a two-story multi-use development in Tofte. There will be six 2-bedroom apartments designated for year-round workforce housing on the upper floor, and 4 retail spaces on the main floor. The housing would be available only to year-round residents and is not tied to the place of employment.
The high costs of building are the main challenge to providing affordably priced housing. It requires a level of borrowing that exceeds the income generated from rent, making it impossible for Sawbill Village to operate in the black. Keeping housing rent affordable is a priority for this project.
